M1 / M-1 Student Visa
Individuals planning to take a course of study of more than 18 hours per day in the U.S., will need to apply for an F-1 or M-1 Student Visa.
M1 / M-1 VISA: Non-Academic Student Visa
This type of visa is suitable for individuals seeking to perform vocational or non-academic training or study in a U.S. institution. The Department of Homeland Security’s regulation requires beginning students to arrive to the U.S. 30 days or less prior to the beginning of the course. To apply for an M-1 Visa, students, ages 14 to 79, need to attend to an interview at the embassy’s consular section. As part of the visa application process, students must provide:
-
A valid passport to travel to the U.S. with a six-month validity date beyond the student's intended period of stay
-
Form I-20A-B
-
Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (M-1) Student Status for Vocational Students
